In 3 Years’ Time

September 24th, 2008

In 3 years’ time scientists might be faced with powerful evidence for the existence of consciousness outside the body. See this BBC article about the ‘Aware’ project:

….investigators will place images strategically in hospital bays, such that they will only be visible by looking down from the ceiling and nowhere else.

If after 36 months, hundreds of patients report being “out of body” yet no one can report seeing the images, then we must consider these reports to be nothing more than illusions.

If on the other hand there are hundreds of positive reports, then we will have to redefine our understanding of the mind and brain during clinical death…

Can you imagine what it will mean for Science. I’d like to see Richard Dawkins trying to explain that one!

And if there are few reports of images being reported, well maybe the souls were so excited about being loosed from the body they will have more interesting explorations on their mind, and will go straight into the famous ‘tunnel of light’ rather than floating about in the hospital room!

Stonehenge a Centre of Healing

September 24th, 2008

From the BBC website:

Archaeologists have pinpointed the construction of Stonehenge to 2300BC – a key step to discovering how and why the mysterious edifice was built.

The radiocarbon date is said to be the most accurate yet and means the ring’s original bluestones were put up 300 years later than previously thought.

The dating is the major finding from an excavation inside the henge by Profs Tim Darvill and Geoff Wainwright.

The duo found evidence suggesting Stonehenge was a centre of healing.

CLIMATE RUSH
The time has come. All who have issue with the current state of affairs are invited to meet in Parliament Square. Monday 13th October 2008. At 5.30pm. For a peaceful rally.

Women will speak. We will outline our demands. The politicians must have it explained:
1. No third runway at Heathrow or Stanstead airport expansion
2. No new UK coal fired power stations: NO Kingsnorth
3. Government policy must reflect the latest peer reviewed climate science

Deeds not words.
At 6.25pm will shall march to the statue of Ms Pankhurst who, 100 years ago rushed parliament to demand votes for women. WHAT a mad idea that seemed at the time.

We shall engage in street theatre.
Come dressed as a suffragette. Come with friends. Come to support. Come to be counted. Come women, come men. Come because together is the only way we ever make a difference. Because things must change. Now.

Suffragette style sashes (red, stating CLIMATE RED ALERT because that’s how bad things are getting) are available from stewards on the day. Google www.climaterush.co.uk for updates on speakers, preliminary actions, map etc

Robin Williamson in Lewes

Come along to a rare and precious day of storytelling, beautiful music
and guidance into the essence of celtic wisdom. Days like these come
along once in a lifetime , weaving the web of our own indigenous soul
with this beautiful legend from ancient Ireland.
A magical and wild story that goes deeply into the layers of the celtic
mind. The story is as relevant today as it ever was, at first it seems to
talk of events a long, long time ago. But as we explore the deeper
layers and meanings of the story, we soon see how this story is our own
story, it is about the everyday struggles of life, as well as the potential
we have in each and every moment.
Full of magic, myth, musical modes and related ideas, the story is the
closest the celts came to a creation story. And in the same way the story
relates to how we create our own story in everyday life. The day is
more like a workshop, as we sit together and unpick the strands of this
exquisite web, through meditations, music and dialogue. Come along
and enjoy a magical day on the edge of Samhain and the winters call.
