SPRING RETREAT

You are warmly invited to a mid-week Spring Retreat 10-12 April 2018 in West Sussex

Update 15 March: There are 2 bursary places available now: £180 to include single room accommodation on Hayling Island.

The long British winter tends to diminish our reserves, but by April, longer and warmer days are starting to arrive. Here is your chance to take some time out to welcome the Spring and recharge your body and refresh your soul in the peaceful surroundings of the Hamblin Trust Retreat Centre in the heart of West Sussex.

The Hamblin Trust was home to the mystic Henry Hamblin, who became known as ‘the Sussex Saint’ and founded a spiritual sanctuary here in 1914. A peaceful garden surrounds the meeting room and three retreat houses, and the centre is a short walk away from Bosham, a beautiful village which floods each day at high tide.

Our programme will include deep restorative meditations (lying down), developed from Yoga Nidra, and conversations on the spiritual life, interspersed with exercises drawn from Sophrology and Druidry. These exercises use simple movements, breathing techniques and visualisation to calm the mind, free us from stress, and connect us to the healing powers of Nature.

We will start at lunch time on Tuesday, and on Wednesday evening will go to the Anchor Bleu pub in nearby Bosham, for dinner, an informal talk and conversation. We will finish on Thursday afternoon, but those staying in chalet accommodation can stay until the next morning if they wish. There are three chalets on site for up to 9 people (2/3 sharing in each), and plenty of B&Bs nearby.

The retreat cost is £180 (which includes vegetarian catering). For accommodation, you can stay in one of the centre’s lovely on-site lodges (one lodge for 2 people in single beds) for an additional £180 pp for 3 nights, subject to availability, or you can book your own accommodation in a local B&B. (NB: The lodges are now fully booked. The cheapest B&Bs seem to be on Hayling Island, but anywhere within a 30 min radius would be fine).

To book a place or accommodation, or for more information, including help with local B&Bs, email office@thehamblinvision.org.uk or call the Trust on 01243 572109.

The retreat will be led by Philip Carr-Gomm, a psychologist and writer on spiritual subjects, who has been leading the Order of Bards Ovates and Druids for 30 years. His website is at www.philipcarr-gomm.com
