Druids, Hippies and the Economy

October 5th, 2009

The Finance editor of the Economist, Henry Tricks, popped in to Lewes in the summer to film for a documentary on alternative economics. He ended up on our sofa and he and I chatted about Druidry, hippies, the 1930s, and economics. He was a delight to talk with and I wish we had been able to talk for longer…

  1. I wonder why the name/word HIPPY pushes buttons for some people? The so called HIPPIES were/are the pilgrims of whats happening on the GREEN front NOW. Why were they called ‘dirty’…… was it because they knew the EARTH and it was closer to them than (dirty) economics? The trees of friut they planted 40 or 50 years ago are bearing much friut now and will feed many tomorrow. Wasn’t Jesus a hippy, a druid, a brother, a lover, a peace maker, a friend and more???

  2. Just saw this…right on! Smile…hope to come to camp someday …its out there..BB Angela.
